Alibaba opens 2% lower, Tencent down 1%, US 30-year bond yield rises to 22-year high

    ETN News Agency (September 25) - Alibaba (09988) is down 2.3%, trading at HK$107.5; Tencent (00700) is down 1%, trading at HK$433.8; Xiaomi (01810) is down 1.5%, trading at HK$26.18; Baidu (09888) is down 0.8%, trading at HK$85.6; Kuaishou (01024) is down 0.3%, trading at HK$30.42.

    Overnight, the US 30-year long-term bond yield rose as high as 5.491%, the highest since 2004; the 10-year bond yield also reached 5.225%, the highest since 2007. In addition, oil prices rose for two consecutive days, with Brent crude rising 3.41% to close at $106.6. New York Federal Reserve President Williams said that due to high energy prices and demand driven by artificial intelligence (AI) investment, the Fed still has much work to do in reducing inflation, implying the need for further rate hikes.

    Currently, the Hang Seng Index is at 24,523, down 237 points or 1%, with near HK$1.8 billion traded on the main board. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index is at 8,172, down 93 points or 1.1%. The Hang Seng Tech Index is at 4,318, down 42 points or 1%. (vs)
