Tenstorrent (09903) fell 4.1%, closing at HK$122.4; Biren Technology (06082) dropped 3.8%, to HK$37.84; SMIC (00981) declined 2.3%, to HK$62.35; and Hua Hong Semiconductor (01347) fell 1.6%, to HK$108.6.
U.S. Treasury sell-off pressure persists, with the 30-year U.S. Treasury yield briefly surpassing 5.44% on Thursday (24th), rising over three basis points from the previous day—the highest level since 2004. Long-term bond markets are facing multiple pressures including inflation, energy prices, and fiscal deficits. Although the U.S. Treasury conducted a long-term bond buyback on Thursday, the final amount purchased was only about $4.08 billion, below the previously announced maximum buyback amount of $6 billion.
Meanwhile, international oil prices have also rebounded, with Brent crude currently trading at $105.71 per barrel. Current interest rate futures indicate that market expectations for a 25-basis-point U.S. rate hike in October have surged to over 70%.
Currently, the Hang Seng Index stands at 24,361, down 399 points or 1.6%, with main board turnover exceeding HK$9 billion. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index is at 8,124, down 141 points or 1.7%. The Hang Seng Tech Index is at 4,258, down 102 points or 2.4%. (am)
